Meet Our Pastor

Pastor A. W. Fullwood serves faithfully as the leader of Riley Hill Baptist Church. He has diligently stewarded over the families and community that God has entrusted to him for thirty-plus years. As a pastor and orator of the Word of God, Pastor Fullwood uses his voice to bring men and women into the knowledge of Christ. He ignites a passion for servitude and love in the hearts and minds of those around him. Because Pastor Fullwood has experienced the transformational love of Christ in his own life, he knows firsthand the importance of building a solid foundation and gaining a clear understanding of the principles and character of God. At his core, Pastor Fullwood is a teacher who demonstrates his love for God and God's people through the work done in his ministry, both in the church and in the seminary classroom. He uses that platform to instruct men and women to serve the body of Christ through their local congregation. He desires to build and equip wise, kingdom-centered people, ready to be God's hands and feet on the earth through service and spreading foundational truths.

Pastor Fullwood attended Shaw University and Shaw University Divinity School in Raleigh, North Carolina, completing the Bachelor of Arts and Master of Divinity degrees. He pursued his doctoral studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, earning the Doctor of Ministry (D. Min) and Doctor of Philosophy (PH.D.). Pastor Fullwood currently serves as the adjunct professor of Preaching at Shaw University Divinity School, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He participates in preaching clinics and seminars across the state of North Carolina and abroad. He is a contributing author to the two-volume publication entitled, A Legacy of Preaching: The Life, Theology, and Method of History's Great Preachers, published in 2018.

He is married to Marlene Parker Fullwood (a retired schoolteacher in the Public School System of Wake County). She devotes a great deal of time and service to Top Ladies of Distinction (TLOD), Inc., mentoring young girls and boys for success. They are the proud parents of three successful adult children:  Kendra, who serves as Associate Professor of English in Rhetoric & Composition, Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee; Ebony, who serves as Associate Director and Academic Advisor, Office of Undergraduate Programs in the Robert H. Smith School of Business, the University of Maryland in College Park, MD; and Cedric, who works in Sales in the car industry in Raleigh. Lastly, but certainly not the least, they have one granddaughter, Tia, who lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
